What is Europlast and what does it manufacture?
Europlast is a Mexican company that has manufactured plastic crates, containers and pallets since 1965, when it pioneered replacing wooden crates on Mexican farms with plastic crates. Today it produces more than 160 product families —more than 500 configurations— across its Agricultural, Poultry, Industrial, Automotive and Housewares lines, with plastic pallets among its most requested categories. Everything is made in Mexico, at its plants in Atizapán, Estado de México, and Atitalaquia, Hidalgo.

What types of plastic crates exist and what is each one for?
The most common are vented agricultural crates for harvesting and transporting fruits and vegetables, closed heavy-duty crates for industry, stackable and nestable crates for automotive lines, and lidded boxes for storage. The choice depends on what you'll move, the weight, and whether you need to stack or return the crate. At Europlast we manufacture versions for each of these uses.

Which is better for farm use, plastic crates or wooden crates?
For agricultural use, the plastic crate outperforms the wooden crate — it doesn't splinter or bruise the fruit, it washes and sanitizes easily, it resists moisture and lasts many more harvest cycles, which cuts losses. Wood is cheaper per piece, but it breaks and contaminates faster. In fact, in Mexico we started this switch ourselves in 1965.
